In the year 2000, I was given boxes of images belonging to the artist Charles Odell Marsh. I have been archiving the images, some of which are merely images collected by the artist and others are small collages and photos by the artist. Some of these images have been used and again altered as a source for other projects. This unknown artist has been a source of interest to me, trying to come to know his thoughts by tracing the images he collected with the work he did. I find many similarities in the themes of our work. What might happen to our collections of work and images when we die? Will some one else come to know something of us by archiving our work? Discovery of an unknown artist raises interesting questions of what being "known" means. I have worked under several different names and even changed my name in efforts to explore how being "unknown" effects the content of my work.
